Hello wednesday - what is it?

Don't you just LOVE wednesday's? Say hello to wednesday "hello wednesday" It's all downhill from now on to the weekend - yippee!!!

I do love bank Holiday weekends, but I get very confused with the days for the rest of the week.  Yesterday I thought was Monday, so I had rather a shock when Syd asked me what Hello wednesday was today.  Durrrrr Ali!

Hello Wednesday is a bit of a guessing game, what is it?

Nope no idea.............................give up?

It is a rain hat!

Not for me, but one of our exhibition units.  We got caught in a blizzard in March trying to load the lorry.  I stood on the tail lift willing Tony to push faster so my ribbons would not get wet!  Dreading what I would see when Tony and the ribbon unit arrived to the safety of the lorry.  I then vowed that I would make rain hats for the coming season.

One made 2 more to go!  I had planned to use Velcro to seal the edges, but when I costed the job I nearly had a heart attacked. £45 I thought was a silly amount, so I put my thinking cap on again.  Ribbon Ties to the rescue!!!  One 10mtr roll of bargain turquoise ribbon for £1 and I will have ribbon left.  Now I have £44 to spend on something else Tony!

Ooooh I am itching to show you what is underneath the rain hat...............but...........it is TOP SECRET.......for the moment............tee hee.

Time to announce the winner of Laura's game, how many buttons in the jar.  Are you ready, I think you will be surprised but there were.................................

.......................138 buttons.

The winner is Beth F
Congrats to the winners! I guess 126 buttons in the jar.
The pinwheels are so darling! I love the natural stick on them.

Wow that was close Beth, please email bev.craftyribbons@gmail.com with your address details and she will get your button prize in the post to you.  Thank you to everyone who took part. A quiet week planned here, although we do have the Dorset steam Fair starting today, the girls are all planning on going on Friday.  All the fun of the fair!

Have a great week, I am off to make another rain hat.

Thank you for everyone that claimed your tickets, it was a fun idea.

Have you had had any thoughts of what the children have made for you to take home?
They did think of balloons tied with ribbon............

........but we decided on windmills with button centres.

I would get in quick and grab your pretend one on the way home..........

....there are two little people that have taken rather a shine to all the windmills!

Thank you for coming to our Fete, and extra thanks to those of you that left us a comment each day.
The children have asked everyday if anyone said anything about their creations.
So it was a great pleasure to read what you had all put.
It was very important for them.

We really have had fun with the Fete, I think you could see that.
We are all a little bit tired and will sleep well tonight!!!

Have an awesome weekend, oh dear it maybe another beach weekend!

Summer Fete rain rain stay away

Morning you wonderful Fete visitors - we have another fun packed day planned.

Although Mollie and I are a little worried it may rain today.......boooo.

That would be an awful shame, Kate's bunting would get wet.

Kate has made loooooads,

it is hanging everywhere............

So pretty and colourful it has made the fete a very cheery place to be.

Although Charlotta may be having the same thoughts as Mollie and myself.

Please, please let the sun shine all day,
BUT................
...........if not................
.....then Mollie and I are ready!

And YES we do wear them!

What fun!

Have a great day and remember, today is your last chance to get a raffle ticket.
Prize draw takes place tomorrow morning.

Thank you for buying Sam and Mollie's cakes yesterday, how were the purple ones?

Summer Fete Cake Stall

Morning all our Fete visitors, do we have a tasty treat for you today...........
.............ummmm maybe not the dark purple ones!

Every Summer Fete has a Cake Stall and ours is no exception.
But this time of year you have to careful of all those horrid wasps and flies.

Never fear, we have one of these...........

Wow awesome Mandy, just what Mollie needs on her stall.

Mollie has set her stall up nice and early, hung the bunting,
layered the table cloth and arranged her cakes.

All she needs now are customers.

Sam and Mollie made today's cakes.  Yes I do mean MADE them.
They all have ribbon flags, some have sprinkles.
Two have blackberries picked from the office garden.

The butterfly cakes have ribbon butterflies as their flags.

Sam being Sam, wanted to make Halloween cakes.............
............ummmm for a Summer Fete!

.......I did warn you about the dark purple ones!

Oooh look Mollie has made a sale.

Well done Mollie.

We hope you will buy one of Sam and Mollie's cakes, they do look yummmy.

Have fun

Summer Fete Games Day

Morning everyone.
Hope you had a fab day at the Fete yesterday, weather stayed nice and looks to be good today.

Fetes are normally a great family day out, and I would like to thank my little family of helpers. They were hard and work yesterday, getting todays games ready and set up for you all.

Syd was in charge of the Promarkers.
She knew it must be important - they are NEVER allowed my Promarkers!

Who wants a go on our first game of the day............any ideas?

Ta da!

We have a Lucky Dip!

Lots of ribbon and button goodies have been wrapped up by Mollie, Sam and Sydney.
All in bright coloured paper.

For a chance to win one of their lucky dip prizes just write Lucky Dip into the special instruction box during checkout, and the children will do the rest.........

If you are really, really lucky, you may even get bits of sawdust!

(Sorry I must tell you this - the children had spent all morning wrapping up the lucky dip prizes. We have a huge tub in the warehouse.......BUT.......when they pulled these prizes from the sawdust, they asked if they could open them!!!!!  So sweet.)

Lets move on to Laura's stall, she has also been busy getting her game ready.
Roll up, roll up have a go on our ribbon hoopla.

Go on have a go...............

Wicked game Laura, really enjoyed playing.

All these games have made me thirsty..............lets head over to Mandy's stall.

Ooooh nice, a cool glass of home made lemonade.

Mandy has even printed the receipt.
Quick, get your pen and paper out and make a copy!

Very tasty Mandy - thanks.

The sun is out in its full glory, so maybe it is time to get the picnic blanket from the car and have a sit and a little game of Flowers and Stars.

Never heard of Flowers and Stars?
Maybe you call it Naughts and Crosses in your part of the world!

It always amazes me what you can do with ribbon and buttons.
Hope you will enjoy your day.

We still have some raffle tickets left - Pink ones here and blue ones here.

Have fun

Summer Fete opens today

Morning everyone and welcome to Crafty Ribbons Summer Fete.
Slightly overcast here today, but that will not spoil our fun.

We have our very own Sydney opening the Fete, we believe she has appeared more often on the blog then anyone else.
So with no further ado, Sydney declares our Summer Fete open

All the way from Sweden Charlotta welcomes you all to the Fete.

Wish your were here Charlotta and could experience your first English Summer Fete

I have been busy making items for our Summer Fete Craft stall....
well all Fetes have Craft Stalls!

But before that we have a super attraction, visiting for today only.
I love steam engines, we grew up a few miles away from the famous Woodcote Steam Fair,
and now live where the largest Steam Fair in Europe is held - BLANDFORD!

Marianne has made this stunning scrapbook page of her steam fair visit to Dorset.
It is amazing how big, noisy, smelly, mechanical works of art, look even better with a few bits of ribbon!

Lets move away from all the noise and smoke, to the Craft Stall....

We have some lavender hearts on display, all decorated with ribbons and buttons (what else!)

Not just any old lavender hearts....

......these have been made from recycled jeans.
Rachie wanted some jeans shorts....so I cut the legs of a pair, sewed a hem and kept the off cuts.....
...thought they may come in useful one day!

I think you will be able to work out how to make these from the photo above.
Only thing to add is if you use your own lavender, then put it in a plastic bag
and pop it in the freezer for 24 hours.  This will kill any little bugs.

I thought this branch wood fence was perfect for my hearts.... summer fete - ish style.

Do want to see what is behind the fence?

Everyone takes lavender hearts on a walk to Old Harry Rocks - don't they?

Have a great day wandering around the Fete, more to see tomorrow.
